HAMBURG, Jun. 10, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Argentina defeated Ivory Coast by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday night at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.
Argentina dominated the first half thanks to goals from Crespo ('24) and Saviola ('38). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Argentines further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
The result put the Argentine top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Argentina will meet Serbia and Montenegro at the Volksparkstadion on June 16, while Ivory Coast will face the Netherlands.
