GELSENKIRCHEN, Jun. 16, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Argentina defeated Serbia and Montenegro by a big score of 6-0 (halftime: 3-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen.
Maxi Rodríguez scored dual goals
Argentina dominated the first half thanks to goals from Rodríguez ('6, '41) and Cambiasso ('31). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Argentines further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Crespo '78, Tévez '84 and Messi '88).
The result put the Argentine top of Group C with 6 points. Serbia and Montenegro is bottom with no points. In their last game, Argentina will meet second-placed the Netherlands at the Arena AufSchalke on June 21, while Serbia and Montenegro will face Ivory Coast.
