JOHANNESBURG, Jun. 20, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Brazil defeated Ivory Coast by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
Luís Fabiano scored dual goals
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Luís Fabiano in the 25th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Fabiano '50 and Elano '62).
The result put the Brazilians top of Group G with 6 points. Ivory Coast is third with one point. In their last game, Brazil will meet second-placed Portugal at Soccer City on June 25, while Ivory Coast will face North Korea.
