CAPE TOWN, Jun. 21, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Portugal defeated North Korea by a big score of 7-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday afternoon at the Cape Town Stadium.
Tiago scored dual goals
Portugal dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Raul Meireles in the 29th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Portugueses further widened their lead in the second period by scoring six times (Simão '53, Almeida '56, Tiago '60, '89, Liédson '81 and Ronaldo '87).
The result put the Portuguese second in Group G with 4 points. North Korea is bottom with no points. In their last game, Portugal will meet group leaders Brazil at the Cape Town Stadium on June 25, while North Korea will face Ivory Coast.
