FORTALEZA, Jun. 24, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Greece defeated Ivory Coast by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday afternoon at the Castelao Stadium in Fortaleza.
Greece dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Andreas Samaris in the 42nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Greeks further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Samaras on penalty in stoppage time.
