BELO HORIZONTE, Jun. 21, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Argentina defeated Iran by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte.
45 minutes of play and neither the Argentines nor the Iranians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Argentine forward Lionel Messi in stoppage time.
The result put the Argentine top of Group F with 6 points. Iran is third with one point. In their last game, Argentina will meet second-placed Nigeria at the Mineirao Stadium on June 25, while Iran will face Bosnia and Herzegovina.
