World Cup 2014 : Algeria held to a 1-1 draw by Russia but qualifies for the Round of 16
CURITIBA, Jun. 26, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Algeria tied 1-1 with Russia (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba.
The Russians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Russian forward Aleksandr Kokorin in the 6th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Algeria with a saving goal from Algerian forward Islam Slimani in the 60th minute.
