MOSCOW, Jun. 19, 2018 (AMP) — Russia 2018 : Senegal defeated Poland by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow.
Senegal dominated the first half as a result of the unfortunate own goal scored by Cionek in the 37th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Senegaleses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Niang in the 60th minute.
The result put the Senegalese top of Group H with 3 points. In their next game, Senegal will meet group leaders Japan at the Spartak Stadium on June 24, while Poland will face Colombia.
