Bundesliga (Week 17) : Bayern Munich beats Mainz 05 2-1
GERMANY, Dec. 19, 2014 (AMP) — Bundesliga / Match day 17: 8 wins in a row for Bayern Munich. After their success against Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hoffenheim, Hertha Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen, Augsburg and SC Freiburg, the Bavarians continued their sensational form in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 victory over Mainz this Friday.
Mainz midfielder Elkin Soto opened the score in the 21st minute, before seeing Bayern Munich catch up in the 24th minute thanks to Bastian Schweinsteiger. 1-1 at half time. The Bavarians eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Robben seconds before the end of regulation.
Bayern Munich remains in first place with 45 points from 17 games, a 14-point lead over runner-up VfL Wolfsburg, which has a game in hand.
