MONGOMO, Jan. 19, 2015 (AMP) — Equatorial Guinea 2015 : Algeria defeated South Africa by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a AFCON group stage game on Monday night at the Estadio de Mongomo.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Hlatshwayo ('67 own), Ghoulam ('72) and Slimani ('83).
The result put the Algerians top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Algeria will meet third-placed Ghana at the Estadio de Mongomo on January 23, while South Africa will face Senegal.
