Algeria beats Senegal to reach AFCON quarterfinals
MALABO, Jan. 27, 2015 (AMP) — Equatorial Guinea 2015 : Algeria defeated Senegal by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a AFCON group stage game on Tuesday night at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo.
Algeria dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Riyad Mahrez in the 11th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Algerians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Bentaleb with just 8 minutes remaining in regulation time.
