Ghana beats South Africa to reach AFCON quarterfinals
MONGOMO, Jan. 27, 2015 (AMP) — Equatorial Guinea 2015 : Ghana defeated South Africa by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a AFCON group stage game on Tuesday night at the Estadio de Mongomo.
South Africa had started off well by taking the lead in the 17th minute with a goal by Masango. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Ghanaians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Boye '73 and Ayew '83).
