AFCON 2015 : Senegal defeats Ghana 2-1
MONGOMO, Jan. 19, 2015 (AMP) — Equatorial Guinea 2015 : Senegal defeated Ghana by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a AFCON group stage game on Monday afternoon at the Estadio de Mongomo.
Ghana had started off well by taking the lead in the 14th minute with a goal by midfielder André Ayew on penalty. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Senegaleses nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Mame Biram Diouf '58 and Sow '90).
The result put the Senegalese top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Senegal will meet South Africa at the Estadio de Mongomo on January 23, while Ghana will face Algeria.
