Confederations Cup 2013 : Italy defeats Mexico 2-1
RIO DE JANEIRO, Jun. 16, 2013 (AMP) — Brazil 2013 : Italy defeated Mexico by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a Confederations Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo opened the score in the 27th minute, before seeing Mexico catch up in the 34th minute thanks to Javier Hernández penalty kick. 1-1 at half time. The Italians eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Balotelli in the 78th minute.
The result put the Italians second in Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Italy will meet Japan at the Maracanã Stadium on June 19, while Mexico will face Brazil.
