Confederations Cup 2013 : Italy beats Japan 4-3
RECIFE, Jun. 19, 2013 (AMP) — Brazil 2013 : Italy defeated Japan by a score of 4-3 (halftime: 1-2), in a Confederations Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife.
Japan had started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Honda ('21 on penalty) and Kagawa ('33), while Italy only scored once Daniele De Rossi ('41). Trailing 2-1 at half time, the Italians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (Uchida '50 own, Balotelli '52 on penalty and Giovinco '86).
The result put the Italians second in Group A with 6 points. Japan is bottom with no points. In their last game, Italy will meet group leaders Brazil at the Arena Pernambuco on June 22, while Japan will face Mexico.
