FORTALEZA, Jun. 19, 2013 (AMP) — Brazil 2013 : Brazil defeated Mexico by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Confederations Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Castelao Stadium in Fortaleza.
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Neymar in the 9th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Jô in stoppage time.
The result put the Brazilians top of Group A with 6 points. Mexico is third with no points. In their last game, Brazil will meet second-placed Italy at the Castelao Stadium on June 22, while Mexico will face Japan.
