Ligue 2 (Week 5) : Valenciennes beats Red Star 5-1
FRANCE, Aug. 28, 2015 (AMP) — Ligue 2 / Match day 5: After their 1-1 draw against Bourg-Peronnas on August 21, the Athenians bounced back with a 5-1 victory over Red Star this Friday.
Edouard Butin scored dual goals
Valenciennes dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Edouard Butin in the 17th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Athenians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Tameze Adrien '59, Abdelhamid '77, Butin '82 and Slidja Pierre '90).
Valenciennes FC climbed to 6th place with 8 points from 5 games, only one point behind Tours FC.
