AUCKLAND, Jul. 10, 2002 (AMP) — New Zealand 2002 : Vanuatu defeated New Caledonia by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Wednesday at the Ericsson Stadium in Auckland.
New Caledonia made the Vanuatuans doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Iwai in the 76th minute.
