OFC Nations Cup 2012 : New Caledonia beats Vanuatu 5-2
HONIARA, Jun. 1, 2012 (AMP) — Solomon 2012 : New Caledonia defeated Vanuatu by a score of 5-2 (halftime: 1-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara.
Kaï scored tripple goals
New Caledonia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Kaï in the 32nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the New Caledonians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Kaï '58, '76, Gope-Fenepej '66 and R. Kayara '87).
The result put the New Caledonians second in Group A with 3 points. In their next game, New Caledonia will meet group leaders Tahiti at the Lawson Tama Stadium on June 3, while Vanuatu will face Samoa.
