OFC Nations Cup 2012 : Tahiti defeats New Caledonia 4-3
HONIARA, Jun. 3, 2012 (AMP) — Solomon 2012 : Tahiti defeated New Caledonia by a score of 4-3 (halftime: 3-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara.
Tahiti dominated the first half thanks to goals from A. Tehau ('19), Vallar ('28 on penalty) and L. Tehau ('34). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Tahitians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Degage with just 4 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Tahitians top of Group A with 6 points. New Caledonia is second with 3 points. In their last game, Tahiti will meet third-placed Vanuatu at the Lawson Tama Stadium on June 5, while New Caledonia will face Samoa.
