Premier League (Week 20) : Sunderland beats Aston Villa 3-1
ENGLAND, Jan. 2, 2016 (AMP) — Premier League / Match day 20: After five straigth defeats, the Rokerites returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa this Saturday.
Jermain Defoe scored dual goals
Sunderland dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Dutch defender Patrick van Aanholt in the 30th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Rokerites further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Defoe '72, '90).
Sunderland remains in 19th place with 15 points from 20 games, 2 points behind Newcastle United.
