Primeira Liga (Week 16) : Benfica beats Maritimo 6-0
PORTUGAL, Jan. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Primeira Liga / Match day 16: Three wins in a row for Benfica. After their success against Rio Ave and Vitoria Guimaraes, the Eagles continued their sensational form in the Primeira Liga with a 6-0 victory over Maritimo this Wednesday.
Pizzi Luis Miguel and Jonas Congalves scored dual goals
Benfica dominated the first half thanks to goals from Pizzi Luis Miguel ('29, '34) and Jimenez Raul ('36). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Eagles further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Jonas Congalves '51/penalty, '54/penalty and Talisca Anderson '69).
SL Benfica climbed to second place with 37 points from 16 games, only one point behind Sporting Clube de Portugal, which has a game in hand.
