Empoli made Sampdoria doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Brazilian forward Eder in the 49th minute.
UC Sampdoria climbed to fifth place with 30 points from 18 games, tie on points with Napoli, which has a game in hand.
