NORRKöPING, Jun. 8, 1958 (AMP) — Sweden 58 : France defeated Paraguay by a big score of 7-3 (halftime: 2-2), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at Idrottsparken in Norrköping.
Just Fontaine scored tripple goals
Two goals for both sides during the first half, Amarilla (20e, 44e on penalty) for France, Fontaine (24e, 30e) for Paraguay. After the break, Les Bleus settled the issue with five additional goals by Piantoni ('52), Wisnieski ('61), Fontaine ('67), Kopa ('70) and Vincent ('83).
The result put the French top of Group 2 with 2 points. In their next game, France will meet second-placed Yugoslavia at Idrottsparken on June 11, while Paraguay will face Scotland.
