VASTERAS, Jun. 11, 1958 (AMP) — Sweden 58 : Yugoslavia defeated France by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at Arosvallen in Vasteras.
Todor Veselinović scored dual goals
French forward Just Fontaine opened the score in the 4th minute, before seeing Yugoslavia catch up in the 16th minute thanks to Aleksandar Petaković. 1-1 at half time. The Yugoslavs eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Veselinović ('63, '88).
The result put the Yugoslav top of Group 2 with 3 points. France is second with 2 points. In their last game, Yugoslavia will meet third-placed Paraguay at Arosvallen on June 15, while France will face Scotland.
