World Cup 1958 : Yugoslavia draw 1-1 with Scotland
VASTERAS, Jun. 8, 1958 (AMP) — Sweden 58 : Yugoslavia tied 1-1 with Scotland (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at Arosvallen in Vasteras.
The Yugoslavs started off well by taking the lead thanks to Yugoslav forward Aleksandar Petaković in the 6th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Scotland with a saving goal from Scottish forward Jimmy Murray in the 49th minute.
The result left both teams tied in the second place of Group 2 with one point. In their next game, Scotland will meet Paraguay at Arosvallen on June 11, while Yugoslavia will face France.
