NORRKöPING, Jun. 11, 1958 (AMP) — Sweden 58 : Paraguay defeated Scotland by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 2-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at Idrottsparken in Norrköping.
Paraguay dominated the first half thanks to goals from Juan Bautista Agüero ('4) and Ré ('45). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Paraguayans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Parodi in the 73rd minute.
The result put the Paraguayans third in Group 2 with 2 points. Scotland is bottom with one point. In their last game, Paraguay will meet group leaders Yugoslavia at Idrottsparken on June 15, while Scotland will face France.
