SANTIAGO, Jun. 6, 1962 (AMP) — Chile 62 : Germany defeated Chile by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Estadio Nacional de Chile in Santiago.
Germany dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Horst Szymaniak in the 21st minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Seeler with just 8 minutes remaining in regulation time.
