VIñA DEL MAR, May. 30, 1962 (AMP) — Chile 62 : Brazil defeated Mexico by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Sausalito Stadium in Viña del Mar.
Mexico made the Brazilians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Zagallo ('56) and Pelé ('73).
The result put the Brazilians top of Group 3 with 2 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet Czechoslovakia at the Sausalito Stadium on June 2, while Mexico will face Spain.
