Brazil beats Spain to reach World Cup quarterfinals
VIñA DEL MAR, Jun. 6, 1962 (AMP) — Chile 62 : Brazil defeated Spain by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Sausalito Stadium in Viña del Mar.
Amarildo scored dual goals
Spain had started off well by taking the lead in the 35th minute with a goal by midfielder Adelardo. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Brazilians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Amarildo '72, '86).
