DüSSELDORF, Jun. 26, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : Germany defeated Yugoslavia by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup second round game on Wednesday afternoon at the Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf.
Germany dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Paul Breitner in the 39th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Müller with just 8 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Germans top of Group B with 2 points. In their next game, Germany will meet Sweden at the Rheinstadion on June 30, while Yugoslavia will face Poland.
