DüSSELDORF, Jul. 3, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : Sweden defeated Yugoslavia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup second round game on Wednesday night at the Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf.
Yugoslav forward Ivica Šurjak opened the score in the 27th minute, before seeing Sweden catch up in the 29th minute thanks to Ralf Edström. 1-1 at half time. The Swedishs eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Torstensson with just 5 minutes remaining in regulation time.
