World Cup 1974 : Poland beats Yugoslavia 2-1
FRANKFURT, Jun. 30, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : Poland defeated Yugoslavia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup second round game on Sunday afternoon at the Waldstadion in Frankfurt.
Polish midfielder Kazimierz Deyna opened the score in the 24th minute on penalty, before seeing Yugoslavia catch up in the 43rd minute thanks to Stanislav Karasi. 1-1 at half time. The Poles eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Lato in the 62nd minute.
The result put the Pole top of Group B with 4 points. Yugoslavia is bottom with no points. In their last game, Poland will meet second-placed Germany at the Waldstadion on July 3, while Yugoslavia will face Sweden.
