MENDOZA, Jun. 14, 1978 (AMP) — Argentina 78 : Brazil defeated Peru by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup second round game on Wednesday afternoon at the Estadio Ciudad de Mendoza.
Dirceu scored dual goals
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to goals from Dirceu ('15, '27). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Zico on penalty in the 72nd minute.
The result put the Brazilians top of Group B with 2 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet Argentina at the Estadio Ciudad de Mendoza on June 18, while Peru will face Poland.
