MENDOZA, Jun. 11, 1978 (AMP) — Argentina 78 : Scotland defeated the Netherlands by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Estadio Ciudad de Mendoza.
Archie Gemmill scored dual goals
Dutch forward Rob Rensenbrink opened the score in the 34th minute on penalty, before seeing Scotland catch up in the 44th minute thanks to Kenny Dalglish. 1-1 at half time. The Scots eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Gemmill ('46 on penalty, '68).
