ALICANTE, Jun. 23, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : Argentina defeated El Salvador by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at the Estadio José Rico Pérez in Alicante.
Argentina dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Daniel Passarella in the 22nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Argentines further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Bertoni in the 52nd minute.
