BILBAO, Jun. 20, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : England defeated Czechoslovakia by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Francis ('62) and Barmoš ('66 own).
The result put the English top of Group D with 4 points. Czechoslovakia is third with one point. In their last game, England will meet second-placed Kuwait at the San Mamés Stadium on June 25, while Czechoslovakia will face France.
