VALLADOLID, Jun. 21, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : France defeated Kuwait by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday afternoon at the Estadio José Zorrilla in Valladolid.
France dominated the first half thanks to goals from Genghini ('31) and Platini ('43). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Frenchs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Six '48 and Bossis '89).
The result put the French second in Group D with 2 points. Kuwait is bottom with one point. In their last game, France will meet third-placed Czechoslovakia at the Estadio José Zorrilla on June 24, while Kuwait will face England.
