GUADALAJARA, Jun. 6, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : Brazil defeated Algeria by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday at the Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara.

45 minutes of play and neither the Brazilians nor the Algerians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Brazilian forward Careca in the 66th minute.

The result put the Brazilians top of Group D with 4 points. Algeria is third with one point. In their last game, Brazil will meet second-placed Northern Ireland at the Jalisco Stadium on June 12, while Algeria will face Spain.
