ZAPOPAN, Jun. 7, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : Spain defeated Northern Ireland by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday at the Estadio Tres de Marzo in Zapopan.
Spain dominated the first half thanks to goals from Butragueño ('1) and Salinas ('18). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Spaniards further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
