World Cup 1986 : Uruguay draw 1-1 with Germany

QUERéTARO, Jun. 4, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : Uruguay tied 1-1 with Germany (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday at the Estadio Corregidora in Querétaro.

The Uruguayans started off well by taking the lead thanks to Uruguayan forward Antonio Alzamendi in the 4th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Germany with a saving goal from German forward Klaus Allofs in the 84th minute.

The result left both teams on top of Group E with one point. In their next game, Germany will meet Scotland at the Estadio Corregidora on June 8, while Uruguay will face Denmark.
