QUERéTARO, Jun. 8, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : Germany defeated Scotland by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday at the Estadio Corregidora in Querétaro.
Scottish midfielder Gordon Strachan opened the score in the 18th minute, before seeing Germany catch up in the 23rd minute thanks to Rudi Völler. 1-1 at half time. The Germans eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Allofs in the 49th minute.
The result put the Germans top of Group E with 3 points. Scotland is bottom with no points. In their last game, Germany will meet second-placed Denmark at the Estadio Corregidora on June 13, while Scotland will face Uruguay.
