ULSAN, Jun. 1, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Denmark defeated Uruguay by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday night at the Munsu Stadium in Ulsan.
Jon Dahl Tomasson scored dual goals
Denmark dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Jon Dahl Tomasson in the 45th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Danes further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Jon Dahl Tomasson with just 7 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Dane top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Denmark will meet second-placed Senegal at the Munsu Stadium on June 6, while Uruguay will face France.
