World Cup 2002 : Denmark hold Senegal to 1-1
DAEGU, Jun. 6, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Denmark tied 1-1 with Senegal (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Daegu World Cup Stadium.
The Danes started off well by taking the lead thanks to Danish forward Jon Dahl Tomasson on penalty in the 16th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Senegal with a saving goal from Senegalese midfielder Salif Diao in the 52nd minute.
The result put the Dane top of Group A with 4 points. Senegal is second with 4 points. In their last game, Denmark will meet France at the Daegu World Cup Stadium on June 11, while Senegal will face Uruguay.
