World Cup 2002 : Senegal held to a 3-3 draw by Uruguay but qualifies for the Round of 16
SUWON, Jun. 11, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Senegal tied 3-3 with Uruguay (halftime: 3-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday afternoon at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.
The Senegaleses started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Fadiga ('20 on penalty) and Papa Bouba Diop ('26, '38). However, even though they were leading 3-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Uruguay with goals by Richard Morales ('46), Diego Forlán ('69) and Álvaro Recoba ('88 on penalty).
