SEOGWIPO, Jun. 12, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Paraguay defeated Slovenia by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at the Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo.
Nelson Cuevas scored dual goals
Slovenia had started off well by taking the lead in the 45th minute with a goal by forward Milenko Ačimovič. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Paraguayans nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (Cuevas '65, '84 and Campos '73).
