DAEJEON, Jun. 12, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Spain defeated South Africa by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 2-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium.
Raúl scored dual goals
Spain dominated the first half thanks to goals from Raúl ('4) and Mendieta ('45). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Spaniards further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Raúl in the 56th minute.
