ULSAN, Jun. 3, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Brazil defeated Turkey by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday night at the Munsu Stadium in Ulsan.
Turkey had started off well by taking the lead in the 45th minute with a goal by forward Hasan Şaş. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Brazilians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Ronaldo '50 and Rivaldo '87 on penalty).
The result put the Brazilians top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet China at the Munsu Stadium on June 8, while Turkey will face Costa Rica.
