SEOGWIPO, Jun. 8, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Brazil defeated China by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 3-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday night at the Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo.
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to goals from Roberto Carlos ('15), Rivaldo ('32) and Ronaldinho ('45 on penalty). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Ronaldo in the 55th minute.
The result put the Brazilians top of Group C with 6 points. China is bottom with no points. In their last game, Brazil will meet second-placed Costa Rica at the Jeju World Cup Stadium on June 13, while China will face Turkey.
