BERLIN, Jun. 15, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Sweden defeated Paraguay by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday night at the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
45 minutes of play and neither the Swedishs nor the Paraguayans have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Swedish midfielder Fredrik Ljungberg with one minute left in regular time.
The result put the Swedish second in Group B with 4 points. Paraguay is bottom with no points. In their last game, Sweden will meet group leaders England at the Berlin Olympic Stadium on June 20, while Paraguay will face Trinidad and Tobago.
